After going against tradition with my allotment-style wedding cake and the Spiderman cake I made for my daughter’s birthday, here is the proof that I can do ‘traditional’, too:
Can you guess the theme of this 3rd birthday party? I promise I’ll post a ‘Hello Kitty’ picture to the first person to write the correct answer in the comment box 😉

Wow – hadn’t realised you were a supremely talented cake decorator too. Very impressed!

It’s out of despair, really, rather than a true calling 😉

k, so the theme is NOT Hello Kitty then…
Hmmm…
Hmmmmm….

Red Ribbon Kitty?

Have you had a lot of luck with promotional quizzes, ever? You know, the one sponsored by a specific soft drinks company, featuring pictures of the bottles and the logo, followed by the questions “Which is America’s favourite soft drink?”
It probably took you ages to come up with ‘milk’, which is, after all, quite soft. Unlike, say, vodka.
And then you didn’t get the prize.
In fact, they never even published the correct answers!

Could it be ‘Hello Kitty’?!! There’s a whole shop dedicated to it here in Dubai. Bet your daughter loved it.

SHe did. It was her friend’s birthday and she said she’d rather have that next year than Spiderman…

Shame – loved that Spiderman cake (and a much better role model!!)

Ha! These are brilliant!! The biscuits are particularly gorgeous. That must have been one happy three year old you had there 🙂

The biscuits turned out much better than I had expected – I used a shortbread recipe and some incredibly pink plastic stamps which became part of the present for the birthday girl, a friend of my daughter’s.
I just hope we will have forgotten this episode by next year 😉

The biscuits are so easy – I used a very basic shortbread recipe. The cutters came from Amazon – they have lots of shapes!

Oh, and for the cupcakes I simply used the same cutters to cut shapes out of the leftover roll-out icing from the cake. I made additional icing using an egg white and icing sugar, as well as red food colouring, to ice the cupcakes before sticking on the Kitties. With the leftover red icing I decorated the bows.
Easy-peasy!

Adorable, Ginger…you have quite a talent for decorating. I, on the other hand, did not seem to get that gene! Can you sense my hint of jealousy? Oh well…those of us who can’t, will pay those of you who can! 😀

They are brilliant, love the biscuits too! My children can be quite demanding when it comes to birthday cake requests. My worst nightmare (and he is somewhere in my archives) was Totoro a couple of years ago. Living somewhere where cake decorating stuff is quite hard to come by (it’s getting better all the time though!) I still have nightmares about him!! 😀

Haha, that’s actually quite funny! We should have a ‘cake decorating nightmares’ day someday … 😉

Thanks! I had to use red colouring instead of pink, otherwise I would have fainted with all the cuteness 😉
